We left Sines maina at 4am for the 76 mile journey down the last part of the Atlantic coast and round the corner onto
the Algarve. It was a lovely sail, though it has to be said, not a hot
or sunny one. We rounded Cabo de Sao Vincente mid afternoon and arrived
at Lagos early evening.
The Pilot book states "As you round Cabo
San Vicente from the north, both air and sea temperatures jump 5 degrees,
the fog lifts, the wind moderates and suddenly you have a foretaste of
Mediteranian weather". Oh we can dream, as sadly it was not to be!

The cliffs to the west of Lagos are spectacular erroded sandstone arches and caves |
